Warmth. Welcome. Inclusion.
When you arrive at Christian Temple, it is our hope that you will feel the warmth, welcome, and inclusion that we aspire to share with you. We are a congregation comprised of old and young, gay and straight, rich and poor, and everyone in-between.
Sunday Mornings
We worship at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings. People usually begin arriving around 10:30 a.m. for coffee and conversation. Worship lasts for approximately one hour. Attendees wear everything from jeans and t-shirts to dresses and suits. Feel free to wear whatever makes you most comfortable.
During worship, you will hear historic hymns and music written recently. The organ and piano typically accompany our singing, but it is also quite common to hear a guitar, drums, or other instrumentation to enhance worship.
Each week, we participate in Communion, the meal that Jesus shared with his disciples. Everyone is welcome at the table to receive the Bread of Life and the Cup of the New Covenant. Jesus welcomed all; why shouldn't we?
Digging Deeper
There is a portion of the worship service each week that is dedicated to the spoken word. We call this a sermon or homily. Most Sundays, our homilies are focused on scriptures that were gathered together in the Revised Common Lectionary. The Lectionary provides selections from the Bible that combined take the congregation on a three-year journey through most of the Bible. Each Tuesday night at 8:28 p.m., John and Katie Callaway talk through the upcoming scripture selections and invite you to share your thoughts. We call this gathering Talk and Toast. We bring our questions, doubts, and struggles as well as a good bit of laughter. You can watch it live on Facebook or when it is most convenient for you. Come join the conversation! Cheers!
