Children at Worship |
|
Youngsters participating at Children at Worship usually sit with their families in the sanctuary for the first part of the worship service (about twenty minutes). The minister then calls them forward to the altar steps for the Children's Moment, a regular part of the service. Once excused by the minister, the children then have the choice of worshipping on their level with other kids, or remaining with their families. They follow the Children at Worship leader -- a volunteer-- out of the sanctuary and into a classroom. · When the children leave the sanctuary after their time with Pastors Rick or Brian, they are coming to a special Children at Worship program. The parts are arranged to reflect the order in the "adult" worship service. The tone we set is also much more worshipful than what we aim for in Sunday School. We open with greetings and giving thanks to God, then sing and listen to a story from the Bible (usually one of the readings for the day). After we hear one of God’s stories, the children get to ”wonder” about what the people might have felt and thought. Then they have a special "communion" snack. They create artwork or complete special activities which extend the story and that they may take home with them. Parents may pick up children when the worship service is over. You will hear great things about "their" worship experience! |
